Driving safely in Nepal requires a clear understanding of traffic laws and proper preparation for the official driving license exam conducted by the Department of Transport Management (DoTM).

Traffic Rules & Regulations in Nepal

• Obey traffic signals and signs at all times.

• Give priority to pedestrians at zebra crossings.

• Wear a helmet when riding a two-wheeler and use seatbelts in cars.

• Do not exceed speed limits or drive recklessly.

• Avoid using mobile phones while driving.

• Do not drink and drive.

• Overtake only when safe and permitted.

• Drive slowly in school zones, hospital areas, and silent zones (no horn).

Driving License Exam Structure

The exam has two parts:

1. Written Test

   • 25 multiple-choice questions.

   • 30 minutes.

   • Passing score: 60%.

   • 1 question carries 4 marks.

   • 3 attempts allowed within 18 months.

2. Practical Trial Test

   • Includes 8-shaped track, slope test, reverse,  and parking.

   • The candidate must complete all without mistakes.
